![]() There's apartments all over- avoid ones closest to USF because they are usually full of students, and thus management is shitty. ![]() Reddit likes to get a little dramatic about SH, but it's just a little zesty on outskirts due to gentrification. It's not likely you'll be in "ridiculous high crime" in Tampa if you bother to view the property first- even in the most sketchy areas, it's property theft you have to worry about for the most part, unless you like midnight strolls down dark streets. Ybor/Tampa Heights can get thrown in there, too. Look into Seminole Heights for a very different beat than you are used to, full of hip 30-somethings. What do you want out of life? A short commute? Being closer in the evenings to night life? Safety and newness, or history and some gentrification? Having a "neighborhood" that's just cookie-cutter houses and sidewalks, or a community that you get to know faces from your local joints? Where you look with a very realistic expectation of $2k/month is up to you (this will get you most places in Tampa if you are only needing a studio or 1-bedroom).
